Final (Four) Thoughts
Who's going to win today and why?
This Business Of Fans Storming The Playing Field Has To Stop!
The brawl in Las Vegas just shows the need to control crazy fans with the threat of force. Here's how to do it... so listen up Utah, BYU. Dan Sheldon explains.
BYU Bowl Opponents (Stop the Insanity)
Where is BYU headed and who will they play? Let's cut through the clutter.
Reno, Vegas, Baseball
Why don’t people appreciate Reno for the glorious city that it is? What’s your problem? Urban sprawl is extremely underrated. And there’s a certain charm associated with their crack houses that other towns have yet to replicate. I think I may name my first born, Reno.
Vacation Wrap-up
Alright, so my vacation started the day after the Real Madrid game so this little entry is a little late. But indulge me, or skip down to some of the vacation highlights. I don't care. It's your call.
A Good But Not Great Deal for College Sports Fans
So we’ll see local college football teams on TV this fall after all. Or will we? The recent announcement is great for one group: those who subscribe to Comcast digital cable. The announcement is anywhere from okay to meaningless for everyone else.
Rocky Mountain Revue’d
After hanging out at SLCC for a couple of days, here are my initial thoughts a third of the way through the summer league games.
Addicted To Booze-r; Dan Sheldon's A Loser
What is it about Ohio, specifically the Akron Beacon Journal, that seems to get me going? The last time this happened, I was laughing at the assertion made in that paper that the Cavs were better off with Drew Gooden and Anderson Varejao than they would be with Carlos Boozer.
How To Say 'Nowitzki' And Cleveland On Crack
In our business, properly pronouncing people's names is important. There's the credibility factor and then the simple respect factor of actually bothering to learn how to say another person's name correctly. I'm not perfect (especially as our domestic sports world gains more international flavor by the day).
Embarrassing
It's hard to believe I haven't blogged in almost three weeks. But something really got me going this morning. I mean REALLY got me going. It's a sad, pathetic tale that is played out over and over again each day on the fields and courts throughout this country and the world.
Reggie Bush Nonsense!!!
The Houston Texans can be criticized for ONE thing if you’re going to bother criticizing them at all.
College Basketball: Looking Behind and Ahead
I know this story’s five days in the past (which in the news world is an eternity) but I’m going to weigh in on a few things anyway while also looking forward. The game itself played out pretty much exactly as I expected. Within the first five minutes, it was abundantly clear that Florida had UCLA completely overmatched in the frontcourt and the teams were even (at best) in the backcourt. If Lee Humphrey doesn’t fall off his bike and hurt his shoulder in midseason, the Gators wouldn’t have lost more than two, maybe three, games.
