On March 17, 2008, KUTV will be replaced on broadcast Channel 12 in St. George by a new television station.

Small Number of Viewers Effected
The great majority of St. George television viewers are not reliant on Channel 12 to view KUTV and will not be affected by this change. This includes cable or satellite television subscribers, viewers who receive KUTV's primary analog broadcast signal on UHF Channel 49, and those using televisions capable of receiving digital broadcasts. However, due to unavoidable terrain issues, a small number of St. George viewers will no longer be able to view KUTV's primary analog broadcast signal to the St. George area.

I'm Affected, So How Do I See KUTV Broadcasts?
KUTV wants to help you keep watching KUTV free and over-the-air! Here's what you can do

===> Obtain a low-cost digital converter box.
===> Use or obtain a television equipped with a digital tuner.

What is a DTV Converter Box?
A DTV converter box is an easy-to-install electronic device that hooks up to your analog television set and over-the-air antenna and converts the digital television signal into analog, making it viewable on your analog TV.

Getting Your DTV Converter Box
Upgrading to receive digital television (DTV) on an analog television will require only a small investment. Basic DTV converter boxes can be purchased at most electronics retailers for under $60.00. To help consumers cover the cost of the converter box, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is issuing up to two converter box coupons valued at $40 each to households. Information about the DTV converter box coupon program is available at http://www.ntia.doc.gov/ or by calling 1-888-388-2009.

You Soon May Need a DTV Converter
All U.S. television viewers who receive free over-the-air television programming on an analog television set, will need a DTV converter box by February 17, 2009 to continue to receive television service - a date set by Congress to complete the nation's conversion to digital-only television broadcasting.

High-Definition Television Not Required
It is not necessary to purchase a high-definition television, or subscribe to cable or satellite to view broadcast digital television. Using a digital converter box, signals will look fine on your present television; in fact you'll likely notice some improvement.
