Recommendation: I’ve always enjoyed Warehouse 13. Like many of the Syfy shows it suffers from an internal struggle to balance the silly aspects of the show against its desire to be taken more seriously. It’s never quite as campy as Eureka, but it certainly feels like the ambition of the writers was never quite matched by their special effects budget and to compensate they’ve added a sort of slapstick element to the proceedings. This makes the more serious aspects of the shows a little hard to swallow. There’s rarely any tension because there are no rules. No matter how dark things get there is always a flashlight to be found. Whatever your problem, there’s an artifact that can remedy the situation. The only question is if the Warehouse 13 team will find it in time. It’s formulaic, but it works because the cast and their characters are appealing.
