Blu-ray Review: Flight

Rated: R
Genre: Drama
Street Date: February 5, 2013
Available On: DVD, Blu-ray/DVD Combo

The Film: Airline pilot Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washington) is a womanizer, an alcoholic, a recreational drug abuser and the best pilot that you’ll ever meet. When Whitaker he miraculously lands a plane saving the passengers and crew he is initially praised as a hero, but his life unravels under the microscope of the FAA.

The Extras: Origins of Flight, The Making of Flight, Anatomy of a Plane Crash and Q&A Highlights.

Recommendation: I was one of the few who didn’t enjoy “Flight.” I thought the plane crash was fantastic, but the rest of the film felt uneven. Washington offers a pleasing performance, but it’s hardly his best or most daring. John Goodman is fantastic and funny, but he feels like he’s appearing in an entirely different film. Still, the film has many admirers and did very well at the box office, so if you’re the least bit interested I would recommend giving it a look.
