Recommendation: “Peter Pan” is an instant classic. I loved it as a child, a teenager and now as an adult. Barrie’s story resonates in an almost universal way. Disney’s adaptation isn’t entirely faithful to its source material, but the filmmakers were able to tap into the essence of the story perfectly. Some might find some of the characterizations to be dated, but there’s nothing mean spirited here.
Like all of Disney’s top-tier films “Peter Pan” has been fully restored and looks amazingly vivid and sharp. The bonus features are extensive and informative (particularly the “Growing Up with Nine Old Men” featurette).
