A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman
Rated: R
Genre: Documentary, Animated, Comedy
Street Date: February 12, 2013
Available On: DVD

The Film: The somewhat-true story of Graham Chapman told through a variety of animated shorts and featuring Chapman, despite being dead, John Cleese, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam (who all still claim to be alive).

The Extras: “Anatomy of a Liar” documentary as well as a variety of behind-the-scenes footage

Recommendation: Imagine a world where Monty Python have kidnapped Saturday morning television and replaced it with an acid fueled cartoon chaos that ranged from bizarre to absolutely bizarre. It’s often as vulgar as it is odd (Chapman apparently had a rigorous sex life), but it’s always entertaining. It’s a shame that Terry Gilliam didn’t provide any of the animation, but he does at least drop in to provide a few voices. It’s not quite like having a new Monty Python film, but it’s hilariously close.
