Michaele Green: Importance of Brushing Teeth
(KUTV) Getting your kids to brush those teeth can be a frustrating battle to fight.
February is national children's dental health month and Michaele Green, the president of the Utah Dental Hygienists' Association came by the studio to tell parents what they can do to help make brushing a little less challenging.
-Dental health of kids has a lasting effect well into later life
-20% of 3rd graders have untreated dental decay
-51 million school hours are lost each year to dental-related illness.
-Remember the two rule: Brush 2x a day for 2 minutes
-Kids are not able to brush on their own until they are able to tie their own shoes and parents should get in there at least once a day.
-Don't forget to floss
-Having healthy snacks available
-Sugary foods and acid foods can increase risk for decay.
-Access to care
