Flu Vaccine Not A Risk For Pregnant Women
(KUTV) Getting the flu is dangerous for pregnant moms but theres virtually no risk in getting a flu shot, according to a study published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Researchers found no evidence the influenza vaccine increased the risk of fetal death in pregnant women.
The study came out after many pregnant moms expressed concerns over taking the vaccine during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, during the 2011-2012 flu season, only 47% of expecting mothers opted to get the vaccine.
