Laurie Baksh: Hiring Midwives
(KUTV) More Utah moms are turning to midwives for help with prenatal care and delivering their babies.

There are some things to keep in mind when thinking about using a midwife.

Laurie Baksh from the Utah Department of Health joined us in studio to talk about things to keep in mind.

There are three different types of midwives practicing in Utah. Only two of the three types are licensed by the State of Utah.

If a woman is considering a midwife assisted birth, the Utah Department of Health encourages women to understand that services provided by the different classes of midwives vary, to become familiar with these differences so that they can choose the midwife that is right for her needs.
