One man is now behind bars in Weber County, suspected of stabbing his girlfriend to death.
North Ogden police say 23-year-old Brittany Nichols was found dead in the bedroom of her apartment Sunday afternoon. Her boyfriend, 21-year-old Johnny Bell, lived with her, but following the murder, he was no where to be found.
Investigators learned that Bell was on a bus headed to San Bernardino, California. Police stopped that bus just north of Beaver, Utah and Bell was taken into custody.
North Ogden Police Chief Polo Afuvai said Bell has confessed to the crime.
"Brittany told Johnny that their relationship was over," said Chief Afuvai "That didn't sit well with him."
Afuvai said Brittany was "stabbed multiple times in the upper and lower torso".
Bell is now in the Weber County Jail on charges of criminal homicide.
Police said there was no history of domestic violence between the couple and KUTV is told Bell does not have a previous criminal history.
Chief Afuvai said this is the first murder in North Ogden in about 12 years and their thoughts and prayers are with Brittany's family.
