Classes That Can Help Teens In Their Future
(KUTV) SALT LAKE CITY – Did you know? It's National Career and Technical Education month?

And schools are offering more than just woodshop for classes these days.
Janet Goble, the director of Career and Technical Education for the Canyons School District is here to talk about the classes that help kids prepare for the future, and about some new classes coming next year.

--More than 2/3s of future jobs will require some type of college

--career & technical education prepares students for college and careers:

-          Provide classes that meet industry demands

-          Focus on skills to open doors to college or certification programs

-          Provide opportunities for career exploration - and give students the skills they'll need to land higher-wage, high-skilled job to help them pay for college.

--Next year, there are two new courses for high school kids in Salt Lake and Tooele counties:

-          Medical forensics - essentially, the lab portion of CSI

-          Technical Design - an architectural and engineering program offered in high school.
