Explosion Rocks Eastern Utah, Evacuations Ordered
(KUTV) An explosion just outside of Vernal destroyed one industrial building and severely damaged eight others.

The explosion happened at Adler Hot Oil Service in Jensen just after midnight and was felt by residents in surrounding cities.

Fire crews arrived on scene to battle the flames that followed, and immediately ordered an evacuation for all those within a half-mile radius.

There have been no reports of fatalities or injures at this time. Two homes in the area are reported to have moderate damage from the blast.

The Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter at vernal middle school for those families displaced.

An evacuation order is in effect until noon today.

The fire is reported to be under control.

However, crews are continuing to deal with a 1000 gallon propane tank that is leaking as a result of the explosion.

Highway 40 is open to traffic in the area.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

We are keeping an eye on the situation and will have the latest as it becomes available.
