Sandy: Government Buys Gas To Resupply Shortages
(CNN) The federal government is buying gasoline to help get more fuel to New York and New Jersey gas stations.
Obama ordered the purchase of up to 12-million gallons of unleaded fuel
and up to 10-million gallons of diesel to get it to the region quicker.
Lines snaked for blocks on Friday as people waited to fill their cars and gas cans for generators to provide power.
New York City's subway system is only partially operating, forcing more people to drive.
Triple-A says more than half of the gas stations in New Jersey and on New York's Long Island weren't operational.
