U.S. Military No Longer Excluding Women From Combat
(KUTV) A big change will soon take place in regards to women in the military.
The U.S. military is ending it its policy of excluding women from combat and will open combat jobs and direct combat units to female troops.
The official announcement is expected to take place Thursday by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.
The move will be one of the last significant policy decisions made by Panetta, who is expected to leave mid-February.
Officials caution that not every position will open all at once, but hope by 2016 women will be integrated as much as possible.
