Web Exclusive: Advice for His Son, Jon Jr.
Shauna Lake: I wanted to know when Jon Jr. was running for president, what did that feel like for you?
Jon Huntsman Sr.: Jon Jr. has always been a very special young man from the time he was born. He was born with such remarkable diplomatic skills as a baby and a little boy and he always dressed appropriately and he always acted wise and intelligently and he always treated people well. Today he spends a great deal of his time trying to bring the 2 parties together and try to end the conflict of divisiveness in America.
Shauna Lake: Did he ask your advice before he ran? Like dad it want to do this but Im not sure. What did you counsel him to do?
Jon Huntsman Sr.: I think that Jon and I have always been so close in our life that he's never said tell me your advice. I think we've communicated almost daily on so many different issues that we read each other so well. He's always been a person, at the end of the day, who determined his own decisions; and Ive respected him immensely for that. In his run for the governorship Id suggested to him at one time that he may want to consider running for the US Senate; the next thing I heard he was going to run for the governorship and I said that's great.
