Web Exclusive: Being Part of the National Team
Nick Rimando talks about being on the USA National Soccer Team
SHAUNA LAKE: Tell me a little bit about the U.S. National Team that you’re joining soon, this weekend.
NICK RIMANDO: I’m leaving after the L.A. game. I fly to Seattle. We play Panama for a World Cup qualifying game and then we head back here to Salt Lake City where we have a sold crowd for a World Cup qualifying game against Honduras on the 18th of June. It’s an honor to be a part of that. I think the success and my call to the national team is from success from Real Salt Lake. Again, it’s something dear that I hold near my heart and if things go right I’m hoping to be on the World Cup team when we qualify, and I hope that we put some good performances here and hope that we get some games.
SHAUNA LAKE: Does it make you nervous?
NICK RIMANDO: Yeah. I haven’t gotten on the pitch yet this year for the U.S. team but just being called and on the roster and to be sitting down. To be sitting down in front of my fans, it’s going to be a great feeling and I’m looking forward to it.
