5th Grader Brings Home Presidential Souvenir
(KUTV) An 11-year-old from Minnesota was excused from school on Friday so he could attend a speech from President Obama, and the 5th grader took home a one of a kind souvenir.
"I was sitting in the front row in the VIP area," Tyler Sullivan said of location for the President's speech. "I was pretty excited."
Sullivan was at Honeywell in Golden Valley, Minnesota with his dad listening to the President.
However, immediately following the speech, Tyler had a chance to shake hands with the President. "I said hi president and then he started asking me questions and he said you must be out of school," Sullivan said.
Obama then reached for a pad of paper and a pen and wrote an official Presidential excused absence note.
"I'm planning on bringing this to my teacher Mr. Ackerman in Rochester and say: this is why I missed school on Friday.
"Are you guys super tight, super close? Oh yeah." The 5th grader said with a smile.
