Alleged Stockton arsonist had ties to fire department
(KUTV) The man who police say started a large field fire in Stockton, Utah was at one time a volunteer member of the Stockton Fire Department.

According police Timothy West, 27 was also charged in 2010 with starting several dumpster fires in Tooele. Officials believe West deliberately started the fire on Wednesday.

The flames from the blaze raced across the town destroying several out buildings and damaging three homes. Two of Stockton's water tanks were also burnt during the fire and residents have been told not to use the water while officials test the supply to ensure it is safe to use.

Authorities say West's father and brother had both been chiefs of the department in the past.

West is now behind bars facing arson, criminal mischief, and obstruction of justice charges.
