Ruby Parkin & Tavia Dutson
(KUTV) Every week during halftime of a KYMU high school football game a student athlete will be honored as the scholar athlete of the week.
All of the athletes represented at halftime are great examples of how hard work on the playing field and dedication in the classroom can payoff.
This week's winners are: Ruby Parkin of East High and Tavia Dutson of Jordan High.
Ruby is the captain of the varsity tennis team and the 2012 doubles state champ. She has participated in the Mayor’s council for high school kids and the National Honor Society, all while maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
Tavia is the 2013 1600m & 3200m region 3 champ. She is a highly competitive runner and hopes to take her talents to the college level. Even with all her community involvement she has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA.
