USC,Utah Falling Short Of Expectations
(KUTV) Matt Barkley was going to win the Heisman Trophy and his team was going to the national title game. Yes, the USC offense
began
the year with a lot of hype and huge expectations, but they haven't met
them.
Sure USC scored 49 points against Hawaii, but Nevada scored 69
points against the Warriors and BYU put 47 points on Hawaii with a
freshman quarterback.
USC scored 42 points against Syracuse, but so
did Northwestern. Standford held USC to 14 points while beating the
Trojans and ruining the dream of a perfect season.
Due to injuries, USC
was down to its third-string center ni that game, but a healthier Trojan team managed
27 points against Cal, the fewest points any team has scored against Cal
all season, even Southern Utah scored 31 points in Berkley earlier in
the year.
The Trojans have a lot to prove as the prepare for a prime
time game with the Utes and the Utes have demons of their own after
giving up three quick touchdowns in their blowout loss at Arizona State.
