Utah State Aggies Fall In OT; Wildcats Beat Montanta
(KUTV) The Utah State Aggies (17-6) absorbed one of its most painful defeats of the season, as the Denver Pioneers (16-8) beat Utah State with an NBA range 3-pointer from Brett Olson to defeat Utah State 63-60 in overtime.
A painful loss because the Aggies fought back on a Spencer Butterfield 3-pointer to tie the game at 60--only to see Olson crush their hopes of victory with a last second 3-pointer--which swooshed through the hoop with ease.
In Ogden, the Weber State Wildcats (18-5) beat the Montana Grizzlies 87-63 to capture its biggest victory of the season and avenge a 2-point loss to the Grizzlies from January.
Led by shooting guard Scott Bamforth, the Wildcats built a 31-point lead and snapped the Grizzlies' 27-game league win streak. Weber State did so by shooting nearly 60 percent from the field and 47-percent from 3-point range.
Weber State coach Randy Rahe told the Salt Lake Tribune that his team was really locked in for Thursday night's game and played with a sense of urgency.
