D.C.United Dumps RSL 1-0
(KUTV) One day Real Salt Lake might win in the nation’s capitol, but Saturday was not the day.  RSL gave up a goal near the hour mark and lost 1-0.  RSL drops to 0-6-3 all-time at D.C. United.  On the bright side, if D.C. United can’t get a new stadium built, maybe they will move to Baltimore and RSL can change their mojo.

RSL rarely threatened in the game, managing just two shots on goal.  Near the half hour mark RSL had an opportunity.  Kyle Beckerman and Luis Gil combined in traffic in the middle of the field, before sending the ball out wide to Robbie Findley.  With time and space Findley sent a well-played ball to the back post where Alvaro Saborio had burst behind the D.C. United’s back line.  GK Bill Hamid read the ball and was just able to get a hand on it and flick it away from Saborio.

In the second half, RSL deflected, but didn’t clear a D.C. United corner. John Thorrington collected it beyond the top of the box and deftly chipped a ball towards the top left corner.   Nick Rimando made a quality save, but Lionardo Pajoy was there to head the rebound home for the game’s only goal.   RSL (1-1) now returns home to face the Colorado Rapids in the home opener Saturday at 1pm.
