Interview: Marc Amicone
(KUTV) For the first time in almost 50 years, a pair of Major League Baseball teams will play in Utah.
The Seattle Mariners and Colorado Rockies are scheduled to play Saturday, March 30th at 1pm in a final tune up game before the regular season starts Monday. The Salt Lake Bees General Manager Marc Amicone says the game sold out in less than one hour as the baseball community rallied to support the game.
Amicone says the teams are guaranteed a payday, the Bees sell the tickets, merchandise and food. He says the game helped the Bees sell more season tickets and although he wouldn’t commit to a future game, he admitted this one has people thinking about future possibilities. The Giants and A’s traditionally play the Bay Bridge series this weekend and the Dodgers and Angels play the Freeway series, but the Rockies, Mariners, Diamondbacks and possibly the Padres could play here in the future.
