(KUTV) - The top-ranked Ute Gymnastics edged fourth-ranked Georgia by two-tenths of a point Friday as Corrie Lothrop won the all-around and Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors.

“It was so exciting, it is still sinking in but it already happened so now we have to look forward to the next week. Lothrop said Wednesday, as the Utes prepare for Arizona State.

Sunday afternoon the Utes compete at ASU against an undefeated Sun Devils team.

Utah has beaten Arizona State the last nine years and hasn’t lost in Tempe, AZ since 2000. Still, there is always a chance of a letdown, especially being away from the Huntsman Center.
“It is definitely going to be a little bit harder, Lothrop said, but we are a team that can get through these adversities. You go to a meet and you do what you need to do and if there are fans, great, if there is not, it is OK--we can do it anyway.

For Utah co-head coach Megan Marsden’s trip to Arizona State reminds her of her career low and a story she re-tells when she talks to the team about mental toughness.

“[Arizona State] had a small student section that screamed fall all the way through my beam routine.  Fall, fall, fall, and I did. That still to this day frustrates me that I didn't handle it mentally, that I didn't take the challenge of the adversity and step up to the plate.”
